“you gotta start somewhere”
I don’t even know where to start & that’s been my greatest obstacle. I feel like I have spent the majority of my adult life exploring and searching and finally feel like I am closer than ever to “starting somewhere.” If you know me, then you know I am a nurse who is passionate about helping people. I was born to do what I do, I just know it. I feel so privileged to be able to make a living doing something I absolutely love every day. However, I just feel like I should be or could be doing more!! As I am also just another person living in this community, I see so many struggles and have also faced many myself. I also see so much negativity & lack of resources or support for the problems that many people in our community face… especially around our growing mental health problem. So of course, I want to fix it (it’s just in my nature). I know, I know it is not possible to “fix” a rapidly growing mental health problem that is affecting millions, but I also know that it wouldn’t hurt to share some positivity, resources, support, and maybe raise some money we could donate back to our community to help provide people access to services they might not normally be able to!
So here is where I am going to “start”
“pop up” merchandise sales for fundraising. %80 of all profit from merchandise sales will go towards different treatments for mental health. (I will be working on partnering with different local therapy, counseling services, & recovery options in hopes they will possibly match our donations)
Share different resources available in our community that people might not know about. Would like to figure out away to allow people to connect with others with similar interests on what they do to help their own mental health….i.e. hiking, traveling, bingo, workout, journaling, book clubs,. I could share these groups to everyone if they already exist, if they don’t maybe you just needed someone else to share the passion with and we could create one!
just a place to share positive stuff, END THE STIGMA, no judgement, a place for people to reach out and not feel embarrassed to do so. This is something an ENORMOUS amount of people struggle with & I just hope that I can help…even if it’s just one person.
